Ballroom Dance Clothes – Where can i find modest ballroom dance clothes?

my sister does ballroom dance, and she has a really hard time finding modest ballroom dresses. she usually has to make them herself. does anyone know of a good website or anything where she could find some good dresses?
when i say modest, i mean shoulders covered, no low necklines, no low backs, and at least to her mid calf in length. (from this, i am sure you can see why it's so hard for her to find a dress)

www.dancesport.uk.com but they are expensive. Those are awesome designs that provide the best lines yet are suitable for dancing syllabus events where you have all this restrictions that you're talking about. Either that, or you're religious or something. In any case, that's not the point of current discussion. Forgive the ol' crowd, they have no clue, but are trying to help.

Other good place is www.allaboutdance.com – I bought their long skirt and shortened it at the hem. It is designed to be long for a very tall lady, so I just cut 2" of the hem. Leotards make good practicewear, if you like leotards. I like leotards over blowses for dancing because they are stretch and they don't pull up and expose your belly when you don't want.

This one www.dancepartner.com has a link to dance clothes but I never bougth anything from them.

Sorry my dears but it really is hard to find good and inexpenisive dance clothes. I make most of my outfits myself.

P.S. covering your arms IS a good idea for competitions – this way, your arms are visually part of your body wich is good. If you have a short-slieved dark dress and your white arms sticking out of it they look "separate" from your body. Plus, if you are sweaty at least you are not slippery if you have long slieves :-)

try hollister..hah jk jk..i hate hollister too.. i would never endorse it…honestly, i dont know..probably an online store specializing in it..tell ur sister to switch to line dancing.. u could find an outfit very easily.. plus its way more fun i would assume..

This sounds weird, but try your local charity store, like Goodwill. The racks are full of clothes that old folks kept until they died. No one usually wants them in the estate settlement, so they are given to charity.
There's a place where I live called Value Village, that has a lot of these clothes. They are usually in great shape (if sometimes a little faded) and are certainly modest. They're also cheap as the little whores who go around in those modern ball gowns.

hello, this is the sister herself.
i have tried line dancing and it's a lot of fun, but sorry, ballroom's better. lol.
as for Chit P's answer, long skirts like that definitely don't inhibit because i do it all the time. in fact, most of the guys i dance with like it that way. also, just because the dress is higher up on my back or front, and i don't completely reveal my arms, doesn't mean the judge can't see what i'm doing. it's not like they're baggy or anything.

No idea but I take ballroom lessons too !!! :) They're gonna be starting on Nov 13th :) I dance during the winter :) mid Nov – I forget when lol. They're free too ! I'm taking hip hop lessons & it's $5/hr but we dance for only like 20 min cuz the first 1/2 hr is spent stretching !! :( Last 10 min is spent stretching :( I don't even know what a "modest" ballroom dress looks like ! Wish I could help…
Edit: Oh yeah ! I'm gonna be buying dance shoes when I go to the city :) I wanna spend @ least $60 on them. My dance teacher said that she can dance for HRS in those shoes. So I'ma go to Mallabar's & buy a pr :) Can't wait to buy a pr & to wear them to my dance lessons in Nov !!! :D We don't have to wear anything formal for our dance lessons. We don't need to wear any fancy shoes either, but I've wanted to buy dance shoes for a while now.

go starsearch or google or yahoo and type in ballroom dancing clothes if you skip every thing from e-bay you will have the site you need

Those aren't really ballroom clothes…if i were you i would just purchase modest couture. A woman who does ballroom is an ornament on the man's arm. low necklines and backs are necessary for the judges to asses her posture. and her legwork needs to be observed. not to mention a long skirt will inhibit her movement.
