* Your first lesson you should wear comfortable shoes.
Woman : If you want you can wear heels. Heels are easier to dance in once you have been dancing for awhile because it is easier to dance on your toes while wearing heels. The heels have to have leather,swede, or a material that slides.Rubber like on sneakers are not good because you can get stuck on the wooden dance floor and this causes injuries. Make sure that the heels have a back or a strap at least so you don't dance out of them.
Men: The same goes for you . You want leather or swede on the bottom of your shoes. Bowling shoes work.

* Dressing for class :
Woman: Be comfortable !! You can wear a shirt,jeans/slacks, ect. Make sure that you can move easily . *Some dance studios are cold this time of year …wear layers, because once you start dancing you will get hot.
Men: The same goes for you be comfortable.
* Dancing takes time to learn. Be patient !!
* Stretch before dancing so that you prevent injuries.

Most importantly Have FUN !!

Try "danceweb.co.uk" and "dancesport.uk.com". Also try the online site YouTube – there are a number of videos on there that will help you by showing you the basic steps for various dances. Similarly, if you would like to learn sequence dancing (much easier than ballroom and a good starting point if you want to learn to dance) there are are a number of dances shown on there. (Try the videos posted on there by "steverockgib" – key in that name in the search box on the site.)

For the ballroom dance lesson for beginner. I think the Louis's online ballroom dancing lesson in dvds might suitable for you.

I'm also learn ballroom dance online.
